  • Role: Appointed on a case-to-case basis by the Disciplinary Authority to conduct departmental inquiries.
  • Workload: May be entrusted with up to 20 cases a year, with not more than 4 cases at a time.
  • Confidentiality: Must maintain strict secrecy regarding all documents and proceedings and sign an undertaking to this effect.
  • Report Submission: Must submit the inquiry report within 60 days for absenteeism cases and 90 days for other cases from the date of appointment.
  • Location: Inquiries are usually at the department’s HQ or the charged officer’s location. TA/DA (as per serving officer rates) is provided for travel outside Nagpur, if necessary.
  • Tenure: The empanelment and any assignment can be terminated by MOIL at any time without prior notice or reason.
