NHPC Limited, a Mini Ratna Schedule–A Government of India Enterprise under the Ministry of Power, invites applications from retired Government officers/PSU executives for empanelment as Inquiry Officers to conduct departmental inquiries on an as-needed basis. This empanelment offers a structured and remunerative opportunity for experienced professionals to support NHPC’s internal governance and disciplinary mechanisms.
Note: Those who have already applied against Advt. No. NH/HR/Rectt/01/2024 need not apply again.

  • Transport Allowance: ₹40,000/case + actual travel expenses (Air/Rail as per last entitled class before retirement)
  • DA for Outstation Travel: As per entitlement prior to retirement
  • Extra Honorarium: ₹5,000 for every additional charged officer in a common inquiry
  • Conduct disciplinary inquiries as assigned by NHPC’s Disciplinary Authority.
  • Submit inquiry reports within 180 days; delay without approval may lead to 50% deduction in honorarium.
  • Reports must be comprehensive, clear, and address all charges and procedural issues.
  • Maximize use of video conferencing to minimize travel.
  • Confidentiality and non-disclosure of documents/data is mandatory.
  • IO must ensure they are not personally related to involved parties.

Q1. Who can apply for this empanelment?
👉 Retired officers from Central/State Government or PSUs, at the rank of Deputy Secretary/E8 level or above.

Q2. Do I need a law degree to apply?
👉 No, it is desirable but not mandatory. Experience in vigilance or conducting inquiries is preferred.

Q3. What is the tenure of the panel?
👉 The empanelment will be valid for 3 years from the date of acceptance.

Q4. How many inquiries can I handle?
👉 You may be assigned up to 20 cases/year, but not more than 4 at a time.

Q5. Will I be paid travel and secretarial expenses?
👉 Yes. Transport and secretarial assistance allowances are provided, as per case load.

Q6. Is it necessary to apply again if I already applied in 2024?
👉 No. Those who applied against Advt. No. NH/HR/Rectt/01/2024 do not need to reapply.

Q7. How do I apply?
👉 Applications must be submitted online only via NHPC’s official Career Portal. No hard copies are accepted.

Q8. Can my empanelment be cancelled?
👉 Yes, NHPC reserves the right to terminate or remove any Inquiry Officer for performance or procedural lapses after due process.
