This temporary position offers medical professionals an opportunity to contribute to crucial mental health research.The institute is recruiting a Project Research Scientist-II (Medical) for an Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR)-funded multi-state implementation research study. This project focuses on the critical area of suicide risk reduction and improving mental well-being among school and college students.This is a temporary, contractual position based in Jodhpur, offering a chance to be involved in impactful research with the potential to shape mental health interventions for young people.The ICMR-funded project aims to develop, implement, and evaluate an evidence-informed, feasible, scalable, and sustainable model for promoting mental well-being and reducing suicide risk within educational campuses .Recognizing the significant stress faced by students and the alarming rates of mental health challenges and suicidal ideation among youth, this study seeks to create resources and strategies that can be integrated into the educational setting.Conducting field surveys: This includes traveling to educational institutions in and around Jodhpur to collect primary data. The ability to build rapport with students, teachers, and other stakeholders in these settings will be essential.Data collection and management: This encompasses the meticulous collection, accurate documentation, and efficient management of research data. Ensuring data quality and confidentiality will be paramount.Review of literature: Staying abreast of the existing research on suicide prevention and mental well-being among students will be necessary to inform the study and contribute to its intellectual rigor.Statistical analysis: The Project Research Scientist-II (Medical) will likely be involved in the analysis of the collected data, contributing to the interpretation of findings.Report writing and dissemination: A key responsibility will be to contribute to the writing of study reports, research papers, and other dissemination materials to share the project’s findings with the wider scientific community and relevant stakeholders.Travel to rural areas: The role requires a willingness to travel to remote and rural areas of the Jodhpur region as part of the data collection process. To be eligible for this position, candidates must possess one of the following essential qualifications: MBBS/BDS with three years of post-qualification experience. MBBS/BDS with a Post Graduate degree (MD/MDS/MPH) or any equivalent degree, including an integrated PG degree. MBBS/BDS with a PhD. While not mandatory, desirable qualifications include an understanding of research methodology and experience in administering questionnaires and conducting group discussions in community settings. |
