The Central University of Tamil Nadu (CUTN) has released a Rolling Advertisement (Employment Notice No: CUTN/NT/01/2026) for direct recruitment to various Non-Teaching (Group B & C) positions. The CUTN Recruitment 2026 selection process may consist of one or more of the following stages:

1. Screening of ApplicationsInitial shortlisting based on Recruitment Rules and higher benchmarks (like higher qualification/experience).
2. Written TestMay be conducted in one or two stages (Objective Paper I + Descriptive Paper II).
– Paper I (Objective): 100 marks, minimum qualifying marks: 40%.
– Paper II (Descriptive): Evaluated only for candidates qualifying in Paper I. 100 marks, minimum qualifying marks: 50%.
3. Skill TestApplicable for specific posts (e.g., Typing/Stenography for PA, Typing for Clerk posts). 50 marks, minimum qualifying marks: 25.
4. Final Merit ListDrawn based on performance in Paper II (Descriptive) or Single Stage Test only (subject to qualifying Skill Test, if applicable). In case of a tie, the older candidate gets higher merit.
5. Document VerificationFinal appointment is subject to verification of all original certificates and documents.

The official notification does not prescribe a detailed syllabus. However, the Written Test (especially Paper II) is expected to cover:

  • General Knowledge/Aptitude: General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, Logical Reasoning, English Language.
  • Computer Knowledge: Basics of Computers, MS Office applications (especially for clerical posts).
  • Domain Knowledge: Subject-specific basics relevant to the post, e.g.:
    • Senior Technical Assistant (Computer): Programming concepts, Databases, OS fundamentals.
    • Semi Professional Assistant: Basics of Library & Information Science.
    • Laboratory Assistant: Basics in the relevant science field (Physics, Chemistry, Microbiology).
  • Descriptive Writing: To assess communication and writing skills in English/Hindi.

Step 2: Send Hard Copy by Post1. Send the printed application formfee payment receipt, and self-attested copies of all relevant documents (Educational, Experience, Community/PWD/EWS Certificate, etc.) by post/courier.

Q1. How do I know if my application has been successfully received for this CUTN Recruitment 2026?
A1. After successful online submission, you must take a printout. Sending this printout along with copies of all supporting documents by post to the university before the deadline is the only reliable way to complete your application. The university may not send individual acknowledgments.

Q2. What additional document is required if I am a government employee ?
A2. You are required to upload and submit a “No Objection Certificate (NOC)” issued by your current employer along with your application.

Q3. What are the specific requirements for the OBC community certificate?
A3. The OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) certificate must be issued on or after 21st January 2025 and must be in the prescribed Government of India format (Annexure-I of the notification). It must clearly mention that the candidate belongs to the “Non-Creamy Layer”.

Q4. What is a “Rolling Advertisement”?
A4. This means the advertisement remains active. If vacancies persist after the current application cycle, the university may reopen applications for the next phase without issuing a completely new advertisement. Candidates are advised to check the university website frequently for updates.
